It wasn’t until Jay-Z released Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life in 1998, with its infectious hit single "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," that he truly broke through to the mainstream. The album went on to sell millions of copies and made Jay-Z a household name.
